Position Summary:
The Facilities Assistant supports the Facilities Lead in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, functionality, and overall readiness of all church-owned properties, including the worship and office locations. This role plays a hands-on part in ensuring the church spaces are welcoming, well-kept, and prepared to serve the needs of the congregation and ministries. The Facilities Assistant will assist with day-to-day maintenance, event setup, and general facility upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:
Facility Operations & Maintenance
Assist with general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Support the Facilities Lead in responding to repair or service requests in a timely manner.
Perform minor repairs, furniture moves, cleaning tasks, and seasonal maintenance duties.
Help monitor the condition and functionality of systems (HVAC, lighting, fire safety, etc.).
Maintain supply areas and assist with restocking janitorial and facility supplies.
2. Space Readiness & Event Support
Help prepare worship spaces, classrooms, and meeting areas for services and events.
Assist in setup and teardown for Sunday services and midweek events, including tables, chairs, A/V, signage, and staging.
Ensure rooms are clean, organized, and arranged according to ministry needs.
Support transitions between overlapping or back-to-back events.
Assist in managing inventory of equipment, furniture, and consumables.
3. Safety & Security Support
Assist with building opening/closing and activation of alarm systems when needed.
Support the Facilities Lead in routine safety inspections and hazard identification.
Follow church protocols related to building safety and emergency procedures.
4. Vendor & Logistics Assistance
Support vendor coordination by facilitating access, escorting vendors on-site, and documenting service visits.
Assist with tracking maintenance schedules and logging completed work.
5. Connect Sundays and Outreach Events
Participate in event setup/teardown for church services, community events, and special functions.
Support with logistics, equipment prep, and maintaining event supply inventory.
Collaborate with various teams to help ensure smooth execution of church-wide events.
Qualifications:
Ability to work weekends (Friday- Sunday) and occasional evenings as required for events.
Previous experience in general maintenance, custodial work, or facilities support preferred.
Basic understanding of facility systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) is a plus.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to serve with excellence.
Ability to take direction, work independently, and as part of a team.
Good communication skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude.
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and performing manual tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance requirements.
Technical aptitude for A/V setup or facility tools/equipment.
Experience working in a church or nonprofit setting.
